Reverse Mortgages
A reverse mortgage is a loan from a private lender for homeowners 62 and older. FreeRateUpdate.com doesn't make reverse mortgage loans or set their terms. Loan amounts, rates, fees and terms come from the lender and depend on your age, your home's value, current interest rates and the lender's own requirements. The loan comes due when the last borrower sells the home, moves out permanently or passes away, or if property taxes, homeowners insurance or home upkeep aren't kept up. Counseling with a HUD-approved agency is required before a lender can process a HECM application.
