The benchmark 10 year treasury yield, a leading indicator for current mortgage rates, was down 0.0130 (0.38%) and at 3.43 as of 11:53 AM PST yesterday, it’s lowest level in nearly a week. When 30-year fixed mortgage rates approached 4.5% just over a month ago, the yield was below 3.2.

Par rates are the lowest mortgage rates available that don’t require additional points, also known as buy down or discount points, to be paid.

The current FHA 15-yr fixed rate is 4.5 percent. You’ll notice the FHA 30-yr fixed rate is the same as the conforming rate; however, the FHA 15-yr fixed rate is a 1/4 percent higher.
