Current Mortgage Rates 03/23 – 30-yr fixed Cemented at 4.75, FHA Rates

Mar. 23, 2010 (FreeRateUpdate.com) – Current 30-yr fixed conventional and FHA mortgage rates are cemented at 4.75% our research shows. 15-yr fixed conventional (conforming/Freddie MAC FRE/ Fannie Mae FNM insured) mortgage rates are at 4.125, while the FHA 15-yr fixed is higher at 4.5%. 5/1 ARM rates for both conventional and FHA loans are at 3.625%. Despite the record low adjustable mortgage rate, ARM origination’s are near an all time low.
Jumbo 30-yr fixed rates, for jumbo mortgages exceeding conforming jumbo loan limits, are at 5.625%. Slightly better jumbo mortgage rates are available to borrowers with an extremely low LTV.

Mortgage-backed securities prices are flat today. The only major piece of economic data effecting mortgage rates, Existing Home Sales, came in slightly better than expected.
The 10-yr T-yield, used by many to forecast mortgage rates, is at 3.66.
