By: Ed Ferrara | February 8th, 2010
Feb. 8 (FreeRateUpdate.com) – With no major economic data set to be released today FHA mortgage rates are flat. FHA mortgage rates have been just above record lows for a few weeks now. Last week brought a slight pricing improvement. Pricing affects cost and if there’s a big enough pricing improvement lenders will adjust their mortgage rates. Both the conforming and FHA 30 year fixed rates have remained close to each other over the past month. Mortgage-backed securities, which push FHA mortgage rates in the opposite direction, were up slightly last week and are unchanged today. The benchmark 10 year treasury yield, which is used to forecast both FHA and conforming mortgage rates, is at 3.59, up .025 on the day.
